SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Stockport

Salary: £ £26,228 - £27,593 per year based on 37.5 hours per week
Contract:
Full time, permanent position.

Start date: As soon as possible or September 2026

School Staffing Solutions are working with a school in Stockport who require an SEND Teaching Assistant to support learners on a 1:1 basis.

The school is built on a foundation of support, care, and a dedication to nurturing each pupil’s unique journey and they have a strong history of helping children who have faced difficult periods in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pupils with learning activities, adapting support to individual needs under teacher guidance.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Encourage pupil engagement and independence in learning tasks.
  • Assigned to support in a specific class with a specific child.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting pupils in an educational or care setting
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and complex needs
  • Awareness of safeguarding, behaviour management, and SEND principles
  • Ability to support teaching and learning effectively under supervision
  • Patience, empathy, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • A TA Level 3 qualification is desirable
